Important Notes
ALL AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ARE CANCELLED TODAY DUE TO THE WEATHER! DANIEL WRIGHT WILL DISMISS AT 2:20 TODAY IN ORDER TO GET THE BUSSES BACK FOR SPRAGUE AND HALF DAY PICK-UP (Posted February 9, 2010)
Important Notice - Gr 6 Outdoor Education Program:
Following is the weather contingency plan and guidelines we will be using to safeguard our students involved in the Grade 6 Outdoor Education program at the Lorado Taft field campus.
If District 103 holds a regular school day tomorrow, February 10, 2010, then we will proceed with original plans to transport students to and from the Lorado Taft campus.
If District 103 does not hold school tomorrow, February 10, 2010, the following plans will be implemented:
* Group 2 will travel from Daniel Wright Junior High School to the Lorado Taft campus on Thursday morning, February 11, 2010. The return date for Group 2 will remain as Friday, February 12th.
* Group 1 will travel from the Lorado Taft campus to Daniel Wright Junior High School (instead of Banner Day Camp) on Wednesday, February 10th, as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. Parents will be notified of anticipated arrival time at Daniel Wright Junior High School via email message and website posting.

Daniel Wright Jr. High Ranked Top Neighborhood Middle School in Illinois by the Chicago Sun Times
Daniel Wright Jr. High has been ranked as the Top Middle School in Illinois according to the Chicago Sun Times analysis of reading and math scores from state achievement tests taken last March and April by Illinois public school students in grades 3 thru 8 and 11. Congratulations also to Half Day School who has moved up from the 23rd to 17th rank in the Elementary School category. Click here to read the Sun Times article.

Attention: Crossing Guard Notice!
Please note that due to few winter walkers, crossing guards at are not on duty at this time. Duties resume following Spring Break. The crossing guard at Daniel Wright will be on duty until Winter Break and resume duties after Spring Break.
2009 H1N1 & Seasonal Flu News:

If your physician diagnoses your child's illness as H1N1 flu, please notify the school nurse so that the District can accurately report any trends in this illness to the Lake County Health Department.
Letter regarding 2009 H1N1 virus immunization plan (posted 2 October 2009)
Dr. Fleming, District 103 Superintendent, distributed a letter for families on August 25th concerning the latest information we have with respect to novel influenza A (H1N1). It outlines the current CDC recommendations and the precautionary measures our school is taking to keep the learning environment as clean as possible. This letter and resources concerning the H1N1 virus are available on the District website at www.district103.k12.il.us.
EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION:
In order to keep parents/guardians advised of school closings and other matters of high importance, District 103 will use the Honeywell Instant Alert System. Please take a moment to log into the system and verify your contact information, such as home or cell phone number. Congratulations to our DW Prudential Spirit of Community Award winner. He spent almost 50 hours of service at a local family service center serving food to the hungry and needy. His service had an impact on our community and he demonstrated much personal growth through his efforts.

Continuous Improvement Team's Online Community Survey
Vision 2015 Planning
Thank you for participating in the Continuous Improvement Team's Community Survey. This was the first step in the Vision 2015 long range planning process. We welcome your participation in a full-day workshop, set for March 6th, and/or smaller focus group sessions in the spring.
