NEW State of Illinois Health Requirement:Tdap Vaccine
The State of Illinois requires each child entering 6th, 7th and 8th grades at our school to show proof of having received one dose of the Tdap vaccine by the first day of the 2013/14 school year. Many of you may have already fulfilled this requirement. To find out which forms of documentation comply with this requirement, please click here http://www.d103.org/vbackpack/IDPHTdap010313.pdf. World Language Survey - Thank You!

The World Language Committee wants to thank the parents and staff who have been part of the World Language study. At the Board of Education meeting on March 19th, a new World Language program was approved for School District 103. Students in 6th grade receive “Star Awards” for exhibiting positive behavior, as recognized by a Daniel Wright staff member. Congratulations to our 6th graders who received recognition as Star Award Winners with a lunch treat on May 31st.

| Conrad O. Finishes 2nd at National Geographic Bee! |
Congratulations to Conrad O., who achieved a 2nd place finish in the final round of the National Geographic Bee held on May 22nd in Washington D.C.! Conrad won a $15,000 scholarship for all his hard work. The contest is scheduled for broadcast on the National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo WILD on May 23rd at 6:00 pm CT. The finals will also be aired on PBS at a later date and time. Way to go, Conrad!! |

WAY TO GO, BATTLE OF THE BOOKS TEAMS!
Congratulations to our Battle of the Books teams, which swept the entire competition in Libertyville by placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. After battling seven preliminary rounds in this literary competition, DW was victorious all the way around! Way to go, students! Many thanks to our PTO for the Links-to-Learning grant that made our participation possible!

Science Bowl
CONGRATULATIONS, SCIENCE BOWL!
Congratulations to our Science Bowl team members who participated in the Regional Car competition on Saturday, April 13th at Case New Holland in Burr Ridge. Thirty-six teams from sixteen schools participated. All teams participated in the race, and one team from each school participated in the design document and defense. Our school entered two teams. The Daniel Wright team consisting of Abhi, Mike, James, Aditya, and Gurasees took 2nd in the design document and 5th in the race. Our other team placed 7th in the car race and was comprised of Will, Joy, Katarina, Laurel, Jake, and Aditya. Mrs. Capelli served as the Science Bowl coach. Congratulations to all on a great season!

Skyward Student Access
Parents/Guardians of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders should have received login information for students to view their own grade book through Skyward. Please note, these student login/password combinations are separate from the parent login/password combinations. (Parents' login/password combinations for Family Access/Skyward have not changed unless specifically requested by parent users.) This access supports 6th, 7th and 8th graders in taking an active role in their education. If you have any questions about Family Access/Skyward, please call us at (847) 295-1560, and we will be happy to assist you.
